Why Choose Providence Midwifery:
Providence Midwifery was born after we found that many of our traditional healthcare patients began a conversation about how they would love to have the opportunity to explore a more natural, holistic approach to healthcare. We agreed, and immediately started the ground work for building a midwifery practice that would serve as a home to women who were looking for natural alternatives to traditional medicine, focusing on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual side of a woman’s wellbeing. Providence Midwifery is truly dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. With over 40 years of knowledge and dedication to patient care, we are among the most highly respected and recognized providers in the Midwifery Community. Our goal is to provide safe, meaningful, holistic health care to all women. We recognize that you play the most important role in your healthcare, and we want to provide you with the all of the support, education and expertise you need, to improve your overall health and wellbeing.
|For almost 28 years Ginny Hawk has specialized in providing ultra-gentle, informative gynecologic care for young women as well as women at virtually every stage of life. “Women can face a wide range of gynecologic health conditions that can be confusing or frightening. All too often they are not given the time to ask questions and be heard. I believe a woman needs a healthcare provider who will validate her questions and concerns. I love sitting with a patient, answering her questions, and helping her take a proactive role in her own healthcare.”In many ways, a young woman’s first gynecologic experience can set the tone for how she views and manages this critical aspect of her health for life. This is especially true for teenage girls and young women who may feel extremely vulnerable and fearful about the process. “My goal is to help a young woman feel comfortable with her first gyn visit. Sometimes she may simply want to know whether what she is feeling or experiencing is normal and I am always happy to answer questions that she may feel embarrassed to discuss with her family.”When it comes to contraception, there are so many choices available that it can be difficult to determine which method is the best fit for your health and lifestyle needs. Ginny offers tremendous knowledge and expertise in this area. She will take the time to discuss your wide variety of options and help you make an educated decision.|
|Amanda grew up in small town in central Illinois, the second of five children. After receiving a Bachelor’s of Arts in sociology from the University of Illinois, Anna worked for nearly a decade as a community organizer throughout the country on various non-profit and political campaigns, most recently for the Sierra Club, and for civil rights hero, Congressman John Lewis. She is passionate about social justice issues, especially public health, environmental justice, and women’s healthcare. She met her husband, Matt, while working on Atlanta Beltline’s public transit campaign, and after they married he encouraged her to go back to school and pursue her dream of becoming a midwife. She completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at Georgia State University, and then spent for a year as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at South Fulton Medical Center before birthing her own (10 lb 10oz!) son, Max, with midwives in 2012. Anna then went on to complete a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University, and became licensed as a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Anna worked for a year as Project Manager of Atlanta Birth Center and participated in a midwifery residency with Intown Midwifery before joining our team at Providence Midwifery as a full time clinician. She believes pregnancy and birth can be empowering and transformative, and considers it is an honor to provide care during such pivotal stages in women’s lives. Anna, Matt and Max live in Midtown with their hound dog, Elmer. She loves to travel, and in her free time she enjoys reading sci-fi, playing cards and board games, and watching videos of baby animals.|
