About Us - Providence Midwifery

Why Choose Providence Midwifery:

Providence Midwifery was born after we found that many of our traditional healthcare patients began a conversation about how they would love to have the opportunity to explore a more natural, holistic approach to healthcare. We agreed, and immediately started the ground work for building a midwifery practice that would serve as a home to women who were looking for natural alternatives to traditional medicine, focusing on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual side of a woman’s wellbeing.   Providence Midwifery is truly dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. With over 40 years of knowledge and dedication to patient care, we are among the most highly respected and recognized providers in the Midwifery Community. Our goal is to provide safe, meaningful, holistic health care to all women. We recognize that you play the most important role in your healthcare, and we want to provide you with the all of the support, education and expertise you need, to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Certified Nurse Midwife Amanda Perry

Virgina “Ginny” Hawk, MS, CNM

_mg_3214_4-1383676963 For almost 28 years Ginny Hawk has specialized in providing ultra-gentle, informative gynecologic care for young women as well as women at virtually every stage of life. “Women can face a wide range of gynecologic health conditions that can be confusing or frightening. All too often they are not given the time to ask questions and be heard. I believe a woman needs a healthcare provider who will validate her questions and concerns. I love sitting with a patient, answering her questions, and helping her take a proactive role in her own healthcare.”In many ways, a young woman’s first gynecologic experience can set the tone for how she views and manages this critical aspect of her health for life. This is especially true for teenage girls and young women who may feel extremely vulnerable and fearful about the process. “My goal is to help a young woman feel comfortable with her first gyn visit. Sometimes she may simply want to know whether what she is feeling or experiencing is normal and I am always happy to answer questions that she may feel embarrassed to discuss with her family.”When it comes to contraception, there are so many choices available that it can be difficult to determine which method is the best fit for your health and lifestyle needs. Ginny offers tremendous knowledge and expertise in this area. She will take the time to discuss your wide variety of options and help you make an educated decision.

Nuria Nelkin, CNM

NuriaNelkin Nuria Nelkin was originally born and raised in a small town in East Tennessee in the foothills of the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains. Finding her calling was a journey. At age 18, she followed her love of music with a Bachelor’s of Arts in General Music as a vocalist at Berea College. With age and life experience, she realized her joy was in the serving and care of others and found nursing, completing her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Tennessee. She was immediately drawn to pregnancy and birth during her education and became pregnant with her first child at the end of nursing school. By happenstance, she found herself in the care of midwives and fell in love with the partnership of care that she received in that setting. After working as a nurse for several years and experiencing the pregnancy and birth of her second child, she knew pursuing a career in midwifery was her calling and dream, completing her MSN in Nurse-Midwifery at Frontier Nursing University. Nuria started her midwifery career in a small practice in South Atlanta providing pregnancy and postpartum care, annual well woman visits, gynecologic visits, birth control counseling, and welcoming babies into the world! She believes that pregnancy and childbirth is one of the most amazing and life changing experiences in a woman and her family’s life. Nuria feels truly humbled and honored to play a role in guiding and educating during that profound transition. She is especially excited to be in this role at Providence Women’s Healthcare and North Fulton Hospital, both environment’s that truly respect the roles of education, partnership in care, and personal autonomy.
